…and to be honest - I think we should all feel a bit ashamed of what it says.
First, there is the strange spike in Wacko-Jacko songs around the time of his death. Fine - it makes sense that people are intrigued by 24/7 ‘news channel’ coverage of his death. But these are searches for specific song titles. My guess is that these are people looking for songs to download. I guess they suddenly realized they really do like that song they’ve never owned once the rest of the world can’t stop talking about how much his music changed the world.

Then we have The Americans:

It appears to go something like this:
“WE’RE GOING TO DIE -WE’RE GOING TO DIE -WE’RE GOING TO DIE -WE’RE GOING TO DIE - oooooh - American Idol is on.”
Then there is Canada:

“I need a tax break so I have extra money to fix my house, to create jobs, to consume Canadian lumber so that I can support this economy out of a recession.”
“You can get that back as a tax credit”
“Excellent! - I’ve got a few extra bucks, let’s go see a Hollywood blockbuster!”
But the real story in Canada is in the popular searches over the year.
Notice any pattern?
Some strange similarities?
Some odd consistency?
Oh I don’t know - that perhaps people are using Google to search for the address of “www.facebook.com” by searching for “facebook”
That’s right: 6 of the 10 most popular searches in Canada on Google are people searching for a very popular site “X.com” by searching for “X”
But the strangest thing is - #6.
Wait!
What?
The 6th most POPULAR search on Google is the word “google” ???
People navigate to www.google.com - then in the search bar beneath that big “Google” put in the word “google” - hmm
